Typical Ultrasound Treatment
|
What
is Ultrasound? Ultrasound
is simply high frequency sound waves
above the range that humans can
hear. It is applied to your
body through a transducer “head”
of the ultrasound machine.
A conductive agent/gel is used to
help the sound waves to travel into
rather than bounce off the skin.
The intensity of the ultrasound
can be rather easily adjusted to
fit your comfort & needs.
Is it
safe? Medical Ultrasound
research actually goes back to the
late 1930's and 40's. It is
now used quite extensively for physical
therapy and rehabilitation since
the 1960's treating trauma and injury.
Today, it is very commonly used
in sports medicine not only treating
acute injuries but preventing over
use problems.
What are
the benefits? Increases
blood flow to well defined areas, softens
connective tissue and scar tissue, and
reduces muscle spasms. As well
ultrasound can “drive” protective and
therapeutic gels deeper into the skin
than just manually rubbing the area.
Using Ultrasound before your filler
treatment enhances the numbing effect
of the topical anesthetic.

How is it
done? Our Esthetician
will apply the therapeutic copper gel
to the treated area and then place the
head onto the skin. Usually, she
will move the head in a small
circular motion and depending on the
setting you may feel a pleasant warmth.
Treatments usually last a few minutes
while delivering the protective gel
deeper into your skin.
When should
I do Ultrasound? This
is a great addition after treatments
such as Intense Pulse Light (IPL) and
Microdermabrasion as well as before
filler injections. It enhances
healing and soothing of the skin while
relaxing your muscles so it can be done
at any given time. Please call
